Old Oak

This painting is a study of time and patience.  The gnarled bark of an ancient oak fills the canvas, its furrows and knots caught in warm afternoon light.  Thick impasto brings tactile relief to the weathered ridges; mossy greens and umber shadows cradle highlights where the sun slips through the canopy.
